MAGOSTO

Ourense is my beautiful and wonderful city. Ourense is important for the history and the places that you can visit. It´ s very famous for the Miño River and the Burgas but it’s really well-know for the Magosto.
Magosto it’s a traditional Galician party that it’s celebrated in the month of November whose principal elements are the chestnut and the fire. It’s very funny.
The party goes from 1 of November to 11 of November (the day of San Martin), chestnut, new wine and highly-seasoned pork sausage are a must.
San Martiño is the patron saint of the Magosto party. It’s usual that there is a concentration the “magosteiros” that are the main character of the offering.
The products are roasted, while the neighbours drink “queimada”.
The whole week is a party, with the Magosto in the square and the gastronomic party of octopus. The party is organized by a commission and the city council cooperate.
This party is celebrated in the forest where people drink and eat all day.
All schools celebrate the Magosto and children play, eat chestnut and they dirty their face with ashes.
It’s a funny and unforgettable party. I recommend it to everybody.

I agree with your blog because I think that the Magosto is a very funny party.
People like to go to the forest with their family and a lot of friends for stay there all day.
They drink and eat a lot and the most important thing this day are chestnuts.
I like them.
It is an interesting blog.

I´m not from Ourense and I like very much this party!
I think that this habit is really interesting to spend time with your friends, family together with the nature.
You can eat tipical foods, drink, dance, to tell histories...a perfect day to break the daily routine!
The next year, I will celebrate this party whit my ourensanos friends!
